Born in an oval in the traditional Portuguese countryside Juju Bento (Abrantes, 1999) was raised in a prism modulated by light and shadow. Outside of it, her body was surrounded by nature in dialogue while frequencies manifested. The focus of Bento’s practice is rooted in creating space narratives to dwell in from body memories. These influences now guide the artist's exploration of phenomenological themes, blending natural elements with the artificiality of exhibition spaces.

In her universe, sculpture, performance, and drawing revolve around the artist's body scale as a grade zero of spatiality. Bento incorporates metal, electrical systems, plastic, sound, light, and natural elements to create milieus and inhabit installations. She challenges gravities through the third and fourth dimensions by placing sculptures in a sensorial ambiance. This develops a body-trust-matter relationship for audiences to experience.
